Sumika Semiconductor Materials Texas Inc. is looking for a full-time Korean Interpreter/Translator to provide interpretation during internal/external meetings and translation support for emails and documents. This position will be temporary located in our Houston Downtown office for 3-6 months and later permanently moved to our Baytown office.
Position Duration: 2-year position with possibility to extend
Position Classification: W-2 Full-Time Non-Exempt position eligible for OT & Benefits
Education: Bachelor’s degree or above required preferred
Work Experience: Minimum of two (2) years working as an interpreter/translator preferred
Temporary Location: Downtown Houston for temporarily (3-6 months)
Permanent Location: Baytown, TX
Job Duties:
- Provide communication support to the management team
- Participate in internal/external meetings to provide high quality consecutive/simultaneous interpretation to and from Korean and English
- Translate (Korean-English and vice versa) emails and a variety of documents including legal, proposals, development plans, contracts, etc. accurately and in a timely manner
- Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions
- Provide sight translation as needed to team
- Liaise between the internal teams to provide a smooth communication process
- Research technical terms to prepare for meetings requiring translation services
- Travel within the Houston and surrounding areas to support meetings

Qualifications/Requirements:
- Strong English and Korean language skills required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred
- Work authorization
- Two or more years’ experience as an interpreter and translator preferred
- High level of communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills
- Strong understanding of American and Korean culture
- Must be able to translate/interpret in a work environment that involves a variety of technical terms and acronyms
- Ability to interpret conversations, quickly and accurately, in small and large in-person and virtual meetings to and from Korean and English
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Must possess well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with members from a variety of backgrounds
- Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) proficiency required
- Available to work regular business hours and work flexibly to provide support as needed
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- 8-hour flexible hours
- Ability to work evening hours due to time zones
